Fe 500D is the sensible default for a one to three storey house. It has the same 500 MPa yield strength as plain Fe 500 but higher elongation, so the bar deforms before it fails. If you are within about 20 km of the coast, ask for the CRS variant.

The yield strength is the same. The D stands for higher ductility — tighter limits on sulphur and phosphorus, and a higher minimum elongation. It bends cold without cracking and behaves better under sudden load.

Typically 10 bars for 8 mm, 7 for 10 mm, 5 for 12 mm, 3 for 16 mm and 2 for 20 mm. From 25 mm upward bars are supplied loose. See the weight chart above for bundle weights.

Yes — for branded bar we can pass on the batch test certificate from the mill. Ask for it when you place the order, not after delivery.

GP tube is galvanised — zinc-coated steel formed into pipe — so it resists rust without painting. MS tube is plain black steel and needs paint or primer. In the Malnad rainfall belt, GP is worth the extra for anything left outdoors.

ISMB is an I-section beam, strong about its major axis and used for spanning. ISMC is a C-shaped channel, used for purlins, lintels, frames and machine bases. They are not interchangeable.

Both shed water fine if the slope is right. Colour coated steel is lighter, faster to fix and can be supplied in one continuous length with no lap. Cement sheet runs cooler under the sun and is much quieter in heavy rain. For a house, most people take coated steel; for cattle sheds and godowns, cement sheet still wins.

For this rainfall belt, do not go below about 1 in 5 (roughly 11°) on profiled steel sheet, and keep cement sheet steeper still. Flatter roofs push water back under the laps in driven rain.

Yes. Colour coated profile sheet is cut to the length you give us, which removes cross laps entirely — the single biggest source of roof leaks. Measure rafter length plus the eaves overhang before you order.

OPC 53 for structural RCC where you need strength fast. PPC for plaster, masonry and mass concrete — it works more smoothly, generates less heat and keeps gaining strength for months. Many houses here sensibly use both: OPC for the slab, PPC for the walls and plaster.

Off the floor on planks, away from outside walls, covered, and used within about 3 months of the bag date. In this humidity a bag left on bare ground will lump within weeks.

Size it to roof area and local rainfall intensity, not habit. For a typical house roof plane here, 125 mm is the minimum and 150 mm is the safer choice; go to 200 mm on long single runs or large sheds. Bring your roof plan dimensions to the counter and we will size it.

For this climate, yes in most cases. UPVC does not rust, needs no painting and the fittings seal properly. GI sheet gutter is still useful for very long custom valley runs, and we stock plain GI sheet for exactly that.
